It was its renowned music department that took me in 2003 to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, but it was in religion courses where I found my academic home. In 2007, I graduated with a BA from Luther, majoring in religion and minoring in women and gender studies, as well as music.

Upon graduating from Luther, I enrolled at Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There I completed a Master of Divinity (MDiv) in the spring of 2010.

Continuing at Harvard, I am presently working toward a Doctor of Theology (ThD) in New Testament and Early Christian Studies.
