Church
I am a member of the United Methodist Church and serve the church in a variety of leadership capacities:
- I am a certified candidate for ministry, which is a step in the ordination process after having met with and been affirmed by a District Committee on Ordained Ministry.
- I have been a member of the Iowa Annual Conference for multiple years now. In this role, I join in setting the policy and vision for the United Methodist Church in Iowa.
- At the level of the general church (the global institutional structure), I serve on the General Commission on the Status and Role of Women (GCSRW). Additionally, I am the chairperson of the legislative committee for GCSRW.
- While working on my Master of Divinity (MDiv) at Harvard Divinity School, I served two years as a pastor intern with two different area United Methodist congregations: Cambridge Welcoming Ministries and Harvard-Epworth UMC.
Most recently, I have submitted my name to the Iowa Annual Conference for consideration to be a lay delegate to the 2012 General Conference, which is the quadrennial, global policy-making body of the UMC. Read more, including my nomination statement here.
